In 2002, R&D Magazine named the Globus Toolkit "Most Promising New Technology" among the year's top 100 innovations.

Ian Foster - The Globus Alliance, Board Member
Ian Foster is an internationally recognized pioneer in Grid computing, and has led projects applying Grid technologies to scientific and engineering problems in such fields as high energy physics, climate data analysis, and earthquake engineering. Dr. Foster is Associate Director of the Mathematics and Computer Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory and the Arthur Holly Compton Professor of Computer Science at the University of Chicago. His research interests are in distributed and parallel computing and computational science, and he has published six books and more than 200 articles and technical reports on Grid and related technology topics.

Steve Tuecke - The Globus Alliance - Univa, Board Member
Steve Tuecke is the CTO and co-founder of the Univa Corporation and was a co-founder of the Globus Alliance with Dr. Ian Foster and Dr. Carl Kesselman. He was responsible for managing the architecture, design, and development of the Globus software, as well as the Grid and Web Services standards that underlie it. He began his career in 1990 as a software engineer for Foster in the Mathematics and Computer Science division at Argonne National Laboratory. In 1995, Tuecke helped create the Distributed Systems Laboratory at Argonne which, under his management and technology leadership, became the premier Grid research and development group in the world. In 2001, Tuecke focused on Globus architecture and design, creating Grid and Web Services standards, and establishing the project's corporate relationships. In 2004, Tuecke left Argonne to found Univa, the leading provider of commercial software, technical support, and professional services for the construction of Grids based on open source Globus software.
