Letter From the President
Greg Nawrocki
President, Globus Consortium
Greg Nawrocki

OK, I'm just going to come right out and say it. This issue of the Globus Consortium Journal is our best yet. We feature interviews with five of the absolute top analysts in the Grid space. We've got similar themed questions circulating through all of the interviews so it is interesting to compare and contrast the responses.

As one might suspect there is a great deal of forward looking hope in what they say, mixed with a bit of "how come it's taking you so long" as well. There are also some very honest answers and responses to our questions with reflections on Grid organizations (including the Globus Consortium, the OGF) and the Globus Toolkit. It's my opinion that we always need to face things head on, whether we like what we hear or not.

So you don't agree with something you've read here and think you can be a better analyst?

The Journal of Grid Computing is set to publish a special issue on Grid Economics and Business Models. This was mentioned today in GRIDtoday and the call for papers is available here in .pdf format. With this special issue, anyone who responds to the call for papers gets to be an analyst. This is sure to provide some fascinating and hopefully inspiring results.

Given the usual scientific nature of this publication one might be concerned that it may yield more academic discussions as opposed to those more suited to the business practical. However, I'll point out that the special issue co-editor is Wolfgang Gentzsch. While Dr. Gentzsch carries with him impressive academic credentials to be sure, he also has a wealth of enterprise experience, notably with Sun Microsystems, and has first hand experience with large scale grid deployments.

This special issue of the Journal of Grid Computing, like this special issue of the Globus Consortium Journal, is sure to be a "must read".
